{"id":410,"date":"2020-02-25T19:22:15","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T17:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.olivertacke.de\/labs\/?p=410"},"modified":"2020-02-25T20:18:51","modified_gmt":"2020-02-25T18:18:51","slug":"a-new-chapter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.olivertacke.de\/labs\/2020\/02\/25\/a-new-chapter\/","title":{"rendered":"A new chapter!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new chapter in my live is unfolding: I&#8217;ll be a <a href=\"https:\/\/snordian.de\">full-time IT freelancer<\/a> as of next week, and some people seem to wonder what this means for my activities circling around <a href=\"https:\/\/h5p.org\">H5P<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Will you stop releasing things for free?&#8221; <strong>No.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Will you stop working on things for H5P now?&#8221; <strong>Quite the opposite!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It may be a little risky to bet on one horse only, but as the great philosopher Harvey Specter once said: <em>\u201cYou\u2019re never going to win big if you\u2019re only going to minimize your losses.\u201d<\/em> \ud83d\ude09 I am going to focus on H5P completely.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, I will have to pay my rent and there will be things that will not be released to the public. On the other hand, there are sponsors who don&#8217;t mind letting others use what I create for them. Often, it&#8217;s even better for them to let changes be integrated into the official source code of H5P components, because they won&#8217;t run into future trouble with forking, patching, etc. I am going to <a href=\"https:\/\/h5pcon-2020.h5p.org\/program.html\">talk about that topic a little bit at the H5P Conference 2020 in Wisconsin<\/a>. Oh, and I also won&#8217;t stop contributing to H5P on my own, of course.
